CASE STUDIES

These special feature breweries will be pouring a series of beers that showcase collaboration and experimentation with a coffee roaster across a variety of styles and techniques.

Brewery Bhavana + Counter Culture Coffee
Brewery Bhavana from Raleigh, NC has been named one of America's Top 10 new restaurants by Bon Appetit and was recently featured in a stand-alone case study Uppers & Downers event at Counter Culture's headquarters in Durham, NC in which they featured a number of single origin coffee beers.

Prairie Artisan Ales + Spaceship Earth Coffee Co.
Prairie Artisan Ales from Oklahoma City has been making some of the most sought-after beers in the country—a full spectrum of farmhouse, Belgian-inspired, and barrel-aged beers. And this year they're venturing into on-site coffee roasting as well, giving them a unique platform for experimentation in coffee beers.

4 Hands Brewing Co. + Goshen Coffee
4 Hands Brewer in St Louis, MO is returning to their fourth Uppers & Downers with a unique showing of four microlot selections of the same coffee blended with a single beer profile to highlight the uniqueness of origin and process. It's a deep dive into the nuances of terroir.

EDUCATIONAL SESSION
Guinness has always been on the forefront of beer innovation — from being the first to use nitrogen in beer, to taking control of their ingredient production and roasting their own barley (at the same temperature as some coffee roasts, coincidentally). They're keen to share their 259 years of experience and also learn a little something from some of the best coffee experts in the industry today.

IRISH COFFEE COCKTAIL BAR
Powers Irish Whiskey will be showcasing their whiskey through an Irish Coffee Cocktail, created by a local Chicago bartender (winner of the Cocktail Competition earlier in the week). This has been a highlight of the fest three years running.
