Good Beer Hunting

I met Kusi five years ago at a local beer festival, mostly because his booth stood out. There was a lot of wood, and the whole structure looked like the love child of a pirate ship and a tree house. Kusi, the man behind the operation named Ahoi Bier, is indeed a kind of modern-day Jack Sparrow: wild hair, up-to-no-good aura, but always a kind soul. Our paths crossed here and there, and while he’s always in good spirits whenever I see him, even pirates get hit by the corona crisis.

Ahoi Bier mostly caters to bars and restaurants in the Zurich area of Switzerland, so now he has to rely on home delivery. As with so many brewers and restaurateurs, he spread the word via messaging apps and social media, and now Ahoi delivers to our doorsteps. When Andy, who helps Kusi out with the delivery, stopped by, I could clearly see how the two were connected: both displayed the same positive attitude in the face of adversity. Of course Ahoi is hit hard, he said. But this, home delivery, is better than nothing. He shrugged, smiled, and was on his way.
