Good Beer Hunting

no. 199

These modest doors are the entryway to Stone Berlin and the opulent Stone World Bistro and Gardens. The main hall is huge, with more than 3,200 square meters to accommodate up to 800 drinkers and diners. Boulders and felled trees from around Berlin were handpicked by Greg Koch to create a setting that'll feel natural to locals. Elsewhere, lamp posts and all manner of bulbs add to the ambiance.

There are also three bars, a mezzanine, private event spaces, and a state-of-the-art kitchen. But those all pale in comparison to the brewhouse itself: a 100-hectoliter, fully customized system encased in glass at the west end of the building.

And to think, it all lies behind these unassuming doors.
