Good Beer Hunting

no. 310

There are a lot of folks that associate Averie Swanson with travel, largely thanks to her awe-inspiring Instagram. But the Jester King head brewer spends plenty of her time on the less-glamorous part of the job, too.

And that’s the real gig, whether most of us brewers flaunt it or not. Here, she’s cleaning out a foeder for our (Creature Comforts and Jester King) collaboration brew while the rest of us eat fantastic pizza and watch the long, setting sun rays rake across the Texas Hill Country.

That, in a nutshell, is the brewer dichotomy. Yes, we seek out the good things in life: fancy coffee, wine, cooking, etc. But there’s also a shitload of no-nonsense work ethic that stems from pride and the desire to grow. We see a problem and we fix it. We see a spot and we scrub it. We see a to-do list and we to-do it.

Later in the evening, we were filling the coolship, sharing beers and stories, and generally enjoying the moment. Meanwhile, the beer that went into this tank will come to life in a couple years. I can’t wait to see all the beers Averie and the Jester King family make between now and then.
